Published between 1827 and 1838 as a series of illustrated plates, Birds of America is a collection made by John James Audubon depicting a great variety of birds, including species that are now extinct. Fascinated by this extensive naturalistic survey, Artist John La Macchia gave his personal interpretation to the hand-coloured prints, updating them to what the environment is more likely now. Using the same style, he added trash and plastic rubbish to a graphic imaginary that has always represented a reassuring take on the animal world.
