Frank Lloyd Wright on the market

by Domus

There are at least 11 unsold properties designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on the market. We decided to focus on 3 of them:
1. Alice Millard House (‘La Miniatura’) Pasadena, CA, 1923 _ $3,950,000
La Miniatura is the first residence to utilize Wright’s highly inventive textile block building system. The Millard House is internationally recognized as one of the world’s most important works of architecture. Now, following a multi-year restoration, the complex offers one of the most romantic, and creative living spaces anywhere. Sited on nearly an acre of gardens within the Prospect Historic District of Pasadena, the residence and studio include: 4 bedrooms, and 4 baths, 2 kitchens, living room, formal dining room, and semi-attached garages. The Millard House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
2. Andrew B. & Maude Cooke House, Virginia Beach, VA, 1953 _ $3,750,000
Frank Lloyd Wright hemicycle, a one hour-flight from New York. Designed in 1953, built in 1959-60, this vacation home is on Crystal Lake. Features include: gym, sauna, swim spa/hot tub, deep water boat dock with access to the Atlantic Ocean. Walk to wide sandy beach and bike one mile to a 2,900-acre state park.
3. Gerald B. Tonkens House, Cincinnati, OH, 1955 _ $1,500,000
This home has been continuously lived in by the Tonkens family, maintained to a superb standard and lauded by numerous architectural luminaries including the contractor of this home, Eric Lloyd Wright and Stuart Greenspan, former editor-in-chief of ART & AUCTION who said of this home “The extraordinary sensitivity of the ensemble, the house set within its landscape and open to the out-of-doors, the extreme care with which the elements were used and its consistency of scale make this perhaps the most seductive house I have ever been in.”
